This isn’t a fully-comprehensive guide to every single budget-friendly eatery in the capital. Nope. This is a small selection of just some of my favourite cheap eats, without skimping on quality. The selection ranges from street food to restaurants, get ready to enjoy the delicious food and not breaking the bank.<\/p>\n

These are the recommendations if you are on a budget and want some cheap food in Taipei.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 \u5713\u74b0\u908a\u86b5\u4ed4\u714e NingXia Oyster Omelet<\/a><\/h2>\n

If you’re in the area around Ningxia nightmarket<\/a><\/strong>, then look no further than this delicious oyster omelet. Portioned up off this gigantic one, the oyster omelet is a staple favourite for many, me included. On a budget of $85<\/strong>, you can’t go wrong!<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 CiSheng Temple \u6148\u8056\u5bae\u5929\u4e0a\u8056\u6bcd<\/a><\/h2>\n

Or, maybe you want a filling breakfast? This will definitely get you through the day, and you’ll still get change out of $300<\/strong>. Come here and sit right in front of the temple to have some fried rice with some small dishes. You would definitely enjoy this kind of old-school Taiwanese breakfast vibe.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 \u5929\u5929\u5229\u7f8e\u98df\u574a , TianTianLi Restaurant<\/a><\/h2>\n

I’m not a fan of Ximending. But, when I do go there, I try to go here if it isn’t too busy.<\/p>\n

Everyone loves that #yolkporn, especially at $30<\/strong> (+$15 for the egg).<\/p>\n

The rice is borderline, but the delicious meat and gooey egg make up for it. Under $50<\/strong>\/bowl. Definitely worth ordering.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 \u8001\u963f\u4f2f\u9b77\u9b5a\u7fb9 \u2013 DiHua Street squid balls<\/a><\/h2>\n

Looking to eat cheap with friends?<\/p>\n

You can get a bit of everything here, and still have change out of a $500 for everyone included. The rice will set you back a mere $40<\/strong>, and the soup with noodles inside will set you back $80<\/strong>. Add a side of veggies ($40<\/strong>) or tofu ($30<\/strong>) and you’re laughing.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 Malaysian Kopitiam \u6c60\u5148\u751f<\/a><\/h2>\n

Since I wrote this post, there’s now another restaurant in this chain opened in GongGuan.<\/p>\n

This Hainan specialty chicken with rice is only setting you back $190<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Whilst this spicy chicken with rice, eggs, and shrimp crackers will set you back $240<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 Fish Rice Noodles \u6c11\u6a02\u65d7\u9b5a\u7c73\u7c89<\/a><\/h2>\n

You’ll easily get change back on a budget of $200<\/strong> for two bowls of rice noodle soup and a plate of deep fried oysters, here. And, you’re set to go get a bowl of delicious shaved ice at Summer Tree Desserts<\/a><\/strong>, after.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 1976 Hong Kong Restaurant<\/a><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

$130<\/strong> for a bowl of this monstrous, delicious congee, and $160<\/strong> for a bowl of noodles with pork liver is going the right way. This place is really solid, and even though it’s in the Eastern (can be more expensive) Area, it’s a good find.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 Soup Dumplings\u4e0a\u6d77\u90b5\u5e2b\u5085\u6e6f\u5305<\/a><\/h2>\n

$60 for this?! I’m all in! They also do some really good curry pot stickers, too.<\/p>\n

Taipei City \u2013 \u9952\u6cb3\u591c\u5e02 RaoHe Nightmarket<\/a><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

At $55<\/strong>, this will absolutely not disappoint. Delicious.<\/p>\n

\"Fresh<\/p>\n

If seafood is your thing, then this fresh squid will tick your box. It’s $150<\/strong>, which may not strike you as\u00a0cheap,\u00a0<\/strong>but the freshness and quality of this will make it seem like a dream!<\/p>\n

You get a big bit of pork stuffed in this bowl, with a delicious warming broth, all for a budget of $85.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I said before, this is not every single inexpensive eat in the Taipei area. But, it’s a selection of a few of the delicious ones I have had the pleasure of eating, so far. You can still eat pretty well and feel satisfied on a budget.<\/h2>\n
